ACE is currently looking to recruit more volunteers to work on its busy telephone advice service giving advice to parents and carers on a wide range of education issues. We will support new advisors to extend their existing knowledge of the statutory duties under English education law and guidance.
We are looking for people who can spare a few hours weekly or fortnightly, on a regular basis, to help us answer more calls from parents who need our advice.
Parents often call us if their child is having problems at school with behaviour, exclusion, special educational needs, attendance or bullying issues. We also speak to many parents about school admissions and appeals. You will need to understand the English education system and have some knowledge of schools’ statutory duties and parents’ rights. Experience of working directly with parents and carers would also be helpful. Our volunteers work from home and need access to a landline phone.
Parents tell us that they really value being able to speak to someone about their concerns and we know that many parents struggle to understand complex written information online. So, if you have some time to spare on a regular basis, some relevant knowledge and experience and would like to help ACE to support more parents whose children are facing difficulties at school then please get in touch with us. Please send a copy of your CV and a covering letter explaining what relevant knowledge and experience you have to firstname.lastname@example.org
